Established in 2001, the Speakers’ Summit brings together the Presidents of the G7 parliaments every year. Its aim is to highlight the shared values of parliamentary democracy that unite the G7 member countries.
For the 2026 summit, organised as part of the French G7 Presidency, Ms Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly, will welcome the Presidents / Speakers of the American, British, Canadian, German, Italian and Japanese parliaments / lower chambers to the National Assembly from 10 to 12 September. The President of the European Parliament and the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament will also take part in these proceedings.
The Summit’s agenda will cover the following topics:
1. Building a vibrant democracy: open Parliament, citizen trust and participation
2. What role should Parliaments play in foreign and defence policy in a context of global crises?
